Heron Island Visitor Centre

This project responds to a current need for a gathering place for visitors at the UQ Heron Island Research Centre. The response involves a series of entry pavilions that gradually introduce visitors to their environment. The main building contains library pods, an open gathering space, and two flexible teaching spaces. The site calls for sensitivity to the flora and fauna that overtake the island and hardwearing materials that can gracefully accept the inevitable beachside weathering.
