I’m Abby - an Architectural Graduate passionate about design that is directly informed by people’s stories, experiences and needs.

Architecture is an incredible problem solving profession and I am delighted by its diversity and potential.

My favourite question to ask is “Why?”, followed by “Why not?”

Abby has worked at Brisbane practice Maytree Studios - Architecture & Interior Design, since 2020.

She began as a student and has worked her way up to Project Lead across mutiple bespoke residential projects.

Life Experience

Abby is an active member in the architectural profession , and has roles as:

  • A QLD Emagn Committee member;

  • Guest host on the Hearing Architecture Podcast;

  • Workshop Co-ordinator for Brisbane Open House;

  • Speaker on numerous panels around architectural career and education;

  • Host and creator of the Dear Designer podcast.

  • It takes a village to recalibrate the ordinary and the everyday to allow for the extraordinary and beautiful experiences to emerge.

    This collage workshop called for each individual collage to be stitched together to create a larger mural that captured the aspirations and ideals of the Brisbane public.

  • An EmAGN talk focusing on that fresh feeling of starting your first (or new!) architecture job. The speakers came together to provide insight on what one can expect in your new role, tips on career planning, and how to determine whether the practice is right for you.

    Abby's role was co-organiser, host and panel facilitator.

  • A panel talk about experiences in getting your first architecture job. This value talk aimed to cover as many aspects of job searching as possible - from the creation of a portfolio to attending the interview.

  • The goal of Dear Designer is to foster a culture of conversation and humility. It’s about highlighting the importance of collaboration in our profession, and giving a platform to those who rarely have the opportunity to be heard.
